Peter Brotzmann / Fred Hopkins / Hamid Drake - The Atlanta Concert [ODL 10006 ]

A pretty hard to find record these days. LP rip was done by me. If you're familiar with Peter Brotzmann and don't have it you should. If you're not familiar then it's a decent place to start. The rhythm section allows him to be more accesible to the casual listener rather than for diehard fans only. Not a four star releases but a solid 3.5 in my books and well worth having. Also notable as the last recording featuring Fred Hopkins.

Frank Wright Quartet - Church Number Nine

A seminal album from saxophonist Frank Wright -- perhaps his greatest album ever, and a real landmark from the Paris free jazz scene of the post-1968 years! The album features one long track that shares the same title as the record -- "Church Number Nine" -- a number that builds in intensity with a style that kind of pushes the earlier ESP mode one step further -- using Ayler-like heads on the interplay between Wright's tenor and the alto of Noah Howard -- but also blowing up in much freer moments over the course of the 45 minutes of the tune. The quartet is completed by Bobby Few on piano and Mohamad Ali on drums -- and the sound of the record is simply mindblowing! © 1996-2008, Dusty Groove America, Inc.

HAKON KORNSTAD TRIO + AXEL DORNER - LIVE IN KONGSBERG

This comes from a limited edition double LP in my collection. I did the LP _ CDR _MP3 conversion myself. Hakon Kornstad ain't no household name but he is nonetheless a great sax player. He is in great company here with his regular trio of Mats Eilertsen & Paal Nilssen-Love along with very special guest Axel Dorner for this festival event.

Here’s a 7″ demo by AS MERCENARIAS, a nice and obscure female band from BRAZIL. This 7″ was coming with first 1000 copies of their 2005 1st LP repressing (Original is from 1985) on SOUL JAZZ RECORDS. Songs are demo version. This band plays a nice and fast melodic PUNK ROCK. Very interesting to listen to…
